Olivia’s 3-month update

Since this is the first baby monthly update, I will be generally addressing all the things that have happened in those three months and focusing a bit more on the new things she learned this month!

General information:

She is now in size 3 diapers for about a week now (since we had a lot of explosions with the size 2 ones). Glad to report that we had no explosions since! She weighs 5.300 grams and is 57 centimeters long. She still fits in some 0-3 clothing but she is leaning towards 3-6 or 6 months ones.

Feeding:

I have been bottle feeding her since she was around two weeks old (for me bottle feeding is fine, I am totally okay with it and what really matters is that your baby is fed either way or another). She now has 120 ml of formula every 3-4 hours and she might have another 30-40 in-between feedings sometimes. We are now on the NAN 1 formula and we are using the MAM bottles in case you are interested.

Sleeping:

No, this mom has not had a full night’s sleep yet! To be honest the times I had one in the past two years are countable. My son has never been a bad sleeper or anything but since he wasn’t really eating that well he was waking during the night for a bottle, or he was waking at 5-5:30 in the morning which for me is still TOO early! So I was kind of used to it. The first few weeks were really difficult though as she was waking 3-4 times a night and he was still getting used to all of this and was waking 1-2 times per night as well (well hello panda eyes!). But he is now mostly sleeping through the night and Olivia goes to bed at 7-7:30 and wakes up at around 1-2 for a bottle (she sometimes sleeps until 4-5 and then requests a bottle) and then she has her morning bottle at around 6-7 and she may or may not sleep for another 30 minutes to an hour. She then goes for a nap usually at around 11 and she will sleep for 2-3 hours. She then has an afternoon nap again at around 4-5 for half an hour to an hour and then goes to bed at 7-7:30.

Development:

For the past month or so she has been so interested in talking it really blows my mind (my son has started making sounds and trying to say different things when he was around 5-6 months). What I mean by interested in talking is that she is babbling, makes various noises and she will react to some words by trying to talk back etc. They say that girls tend to be a bit more chatty than boys and I will have to agree for now!

We have bought her the Fisher Price playmat with the piano and she is OBSESSED with it. She used to stare at all the hanging toys and listening to the music. She has now learned how to grab the toys with her hands and she has been doing it non stop. She always holds on to something, a cloth, toy, blanket (mom’s hair!!) etc.

She hates tummy time! She absolutely hates it. I have tried everything and nothing works, she will stay there for 2 mins at a maximum and then she will start crying. But she supports her head pretty well. Any recommendations about tummy time that made your little ones like it?

Last but not least she loves smiling and laughing. She smiles at everyone (especially her brother) and everything.

Milestones she has achieved:

* Raises head and chest when lying on stomach
* Starting to support her head
* Flipping from stomach to back
* Stretches legs out and kicks when lying
* Brings hands to mouth
* Grabs and shakes hand toys
* Stares and watches faces and objects
* Follows moving objects
* Recognizes familiar objects, faces from a distance
* Starts using hands and eyes in coordination
* Smiles at certain voices and sounds
* Babbles
* Tries to imitate some sounds
* Tuns her head towards the direction of the sound or noise
* She is now more expressive with her face and body

I think I have covered everything but let me know if I missed anything you would like to know. Any special milestone your little one achieved this month?
